Out of hiding

Well, typical me, it has been several months since I posted. Go figure.
A lot has changed since then. I got caught up in work, and Netflix if I am going to be honest.
Also, planning my future.
In January I packed up and moved. From Texas to Florida. I drove my brother back to school and decided to stick it out for myself here. Quite the adventure.
Spent a few days living with some potential roommates who ended up not becoming roommates, but it was an exciting time for sure. Moved into a studio apartment owned by the woman who was cleaning up a room for me to rent, but after a couple of weeks I am now in the market for a new room. Crazy right? Looks like I will be moving in with the family I work for as a childcare provider, free rent and no commute to work? Sounds like a win-win to me!

My life is almost interesting enough for a vlog, which I tell myself I would like to do, but not sure yet. Going that route makes your life so public and people take the opportunity to be critical of people they have never met. It's stupid, Vloggers take the time to video their lives and share it with everyone out there, and people just use it to tear them down. Am I ready to have my life picked apart? Not sure.

Anyway that was a side note. Made a few NYRs this year. Might share them, but they are very personal. Guess one of them should be that I will keep up with my blog more. That remains to be seen. If there are things worth sharing, I am sure to be back. If not, why waste everyone's time with trite stuff not worth reading?

Hope everyone had a great year ahead of them!

Happy New Year!

Are you a man?

Today I read a really depressing blog. It was dedicated to men being more masculine. Which, don't get me wrong, I am all for. More and more men today are becoming effeminate and we need more men to be men.
But the writers of this blog do not know what it means to be a man. The first post I read was about how woman with short hair are damaged. NO EXCEPTIONS. If you have short hair and you are a woman, you are damaged... Um. No. He opens the article with "No woman in all of human history has ever looked better with short hair than she would with a head full of healthy locks." This is not a fact as he goes on to claim, that is an opinion. (I hope his mother never gets the urge to cut her hair!)
Granted, longer hair has always been associated with woman, but I don't see him rebuking men who have long hair. He mentions one girl, who he accosted, about her short hair and she ended up telling him that she had cut her hair off because of a break up and less men hit on her with shorter hair. So, yes, some woman cut their hair off for personal reasons; but some cut their hair because it's hot and they're too busy to maintain long hair. Having long healthy hair can take a lot of maintenance, depending on your hair type, and some woman do not have the time for it. There are single mothers who work multiple jobs and when they are home they want to spend time with their children and not spend an hour doing their hair.
There are so many reasons for woman having shorter hair:
   - making a statement
   - cancer survivor
   - too busy to maintain long hair
   - was in an accident
   - lives in a hot climate and shorter hair is practical
   - and many many more. To list all the reasons why a woman would have shorter hair would be impossible. But to look at a woman with shorter hair and judge her and call her damaged is wrong. Women with long hair have the exact same issues that women with short hair deal with.
To continue with this judgmental and demeaning trend there was another post on this blog about how woman who have piercings and tattoos are broken. The author's five reasons were:
   1. They are sluts
   2. They have no foresight
   3. They are selfish
   4. They are boring
   5. They are mentally ill
Again, these men are bigoted. To take all the women in the world with multiple piercings and at least one tattoo and put them into this box is wrong. Let us break this down by point:
   1.  They are sluts: Well from reading these posts, the only thing that I have learned is that the authors are the male equivalents of a slut. Why isn't there a term for men who casually sleep around? (All of the examples for these articles are women that the authors have slept with.) It seems to me that he is the slut; and to judge all the women in the world but the few that he has deemed worthy of manhood is not an accurate way to measure woman. He has all these judgements biased by the women he has slept with, well here is a novel idea STOP SLEEPING AROUND. Maybe if he worked more on meeting the right woman for him, he would stop generalizing all women by the ones he has slept with. Since when did being masculine mean seeing women only as live sex toys and should they have tattoos and maybe not be as good as he hoped, that gives the man leave to judge her? Where is the respect for her? Real men have respect for women, regardless of their physical appearance.
   2. They have no foresight. Well, the only foresight the women this man tears apart lack is the fact they wasted their time on him.
   3. They are selfish. Holds no water. Again, I don't see him saying that men who get tattoos are selfish. Just another double standard.
   4. They are boring. So that young woman who got a tattoo to remember her father who passed away is boring? Maybe he should ask her why she got her tattoo(s) and what they mean to her. Bet that would be an interesting story. True, some people get tattoos on a whim, or because they were drunk, but many people get them for a reason; to honor loved ones, or to commemorate a life event.
   5. They are mentally ill. Again, if men can have piercings or tattoos and not be mentally ill, don't see how he gets off saying women are mentally ill for having a tattoo.

Being a man does not mean you have the right to tear women down. I am not a feminist, but I will also not be boxed up by bigoted men who only see my appearance. I know that men have to deal with feminist extremists who don't wanna stop at equality and must have exclusivity; but, that doesn't justify these mens opinions. Men need to respect women, even if they have short hair, piercings and tattoos. Judging them and saying that they are mentally ill does not define your manliness it just proves that you do not understand what it means to be man. These articles, that are supposed to encourage men to have masculinity, are nothing more than rants against the women these men have slept with. You wan to be a man? Stop sleeping around, get to know the women in your life, stop judging them by your bigoted ideals, and RESPECT them. You feel they don't respect you? Guess what? They do not respect you because you do not deserve it.
As a side note, some of the most masculine men out there are homosexual men. Why? Because they do not see women as sex objects, but as people.
So men? Learn to respect the women in your life. After all you wouldn't be here without your mothers.

Blind spot

Every one knows what a blind spot is, usually it is used in terms of driving and sight, but another definition for your blind spot is: a tendency to ignore something especially because it is difficult or unpleasant.
This is an apt definition for what I have meditating on. My blind spot is me, and how I see myself. I have a tendency to ignore who I am and how I have gotten here because to me it is difficult and unpleasant to measure myself up to my personal standards. That saying "you are your own worst enemy" is very true.
I hate me. Yes, hate is a very strong word. But honestly, if I met me I would not like me. To my own eyes I am failure. I've made mistakes that I can't forgive myself for; or if I have, I will never forget. Forgetting the past is truly impossible. I might accept it, but that doesn't mean I won't hold it against myself for the foreseeable future.
Don't mistake this for self pity. I don't pity me, I made my choices, where I am today is because of my choices. I don't blame anyone else, because it is my response to circumstances that determines where I end up.

Why share this? Cause I know I am not alone in this. Surely, there are countless others out there who deal with this. Accepting one's own self is common struggle, and not sure how many people ever truly and completely accept themselves. And this has nothing to do with what other people think about me, they are entitled to their opinion. It doesn't matter if everyone I meet likes me, if I don't like me they are not going to change my opinion.

It's hard to be such a strict judge of personal character. I have so much tolerance for others and their choices but for some reason I have a zero tolerance level when it comes to me. This leads to the indifference I have already talked about. Cause if I see that I can't improve then I stop caring about what I do. Funny how that works. The endless cycle of self judgement.

Anyway, just thought I would put words to what many people just try ignore or blame on others. Guess we just all have to focus on dealing with ourselves and then maybe we will care again.

Philosophy of the day

I don't know about you, but to this day I love comic strips. Granted, today they politically correct and political. When I was little though, they were enjoyable and relatable. My favorite strip is Peanuts (because, you all know Snoopy was the greatest dog ever.). Snoopy aside, the most relatable character for me has always been Sally. She is this smart little girl who doesn't fit in and struggles with the guys. (Not that I struggle mind you, just am unlucky). Sally had a philosophy for everything though, even dogs and banjos (still waiting for mine by the way).

Who can't relate to her? So, today I will share a thought, dare I say a philosophy, that I had today.

I purpose that there are two types of people in the world, those who care about themselves and those who do not.
Think about it. Really. See, me, I am second type of person. I worry about others, and look out for them, and don't seek to make life about me. And the other type? They care about themselves and while they may 'care' about their friends, who are usually the second type, that's more out of how it would benefit them.
Take those popular people you know, (also those portrayed stereotypically in movies) why are they popular? Because they do not care about you. They live for themselves and concern themselves with how life can be made to please them, and the over flow to this is that they attract people who care about others and an uncaring person likes to be taken care of so they associate with the caring person. But the people they are seen with are usually the friends of the same type, namely uncaring with uncaring cause the popular person wants to be seen with someone who is 'cool' because they are too cool to care.

Is this a perfect theory? No, not yet, but I am still working it out. Granted, there are always exceptions to the rules. There are popular people who do care about someone other than themself. But when push comes to shove does that person ever go out of their way to help their friends? Not usually.
I get it, life is busy, you don't have time to worry about everyone in your life. But maybe you should. Where will you be in a few years? Successful, career, maybe even a spouse. Then you look around and realize you have no real friends, and things will happen and you will have no one to be there and support you. Maybe then you might think to look up the people you know care about you but you couldn't be bothered to make the effort with until you needed them.

Take a look around. See those people who have always been there for you. The friends who don't dress up as nice as you do, but maybe that's because they were busy helping someone and didn't have time to match their outfit. The friend who skipped dinner because you forgot something and they picked it up for you. Remember that when they are pushed aside and are all alone they are fine, they can take care of themselves. But, maybe they are lonely and sad and wish they had someone who wanted them around just to be with them and not because they needed their help.

Break my theory please. Prove me wrong. Maybe if we all stopped thinking about our own petty lives and started investing in others we could make a difference.

Break your mirror and look out the window. Step outside of yourself and look at that friend who has always been there when you needed them and this time- you be there for them.

Stop taking people for granted. Nothing in life is guaranteed so don't waste it on yourself.

ramble with me

Wanna know what is worse than fear or depression?

Indifference.

Why do we bother to care about anything? After all what is point. In a few years, how much will the decisions I make today really affect me? Sure, some decisions have long lasting effects but in the long run many do not.

When you are on your bed, staring up at the ceiling, not able to sleep and your mind is going nonstop. Do  you ever question why you even bother caring about all the things running rampant through your mind?

Does it matter that..
... your friends do not miss you?
... that the people you love don't know, or, if they do, do not care?
... if something bad happens to you or those you love? That's life.
... life hands you lemons and forgets the sugar to sweeten the lemonade?
... you have invested so much into others only to be reminded every time that it was one sided?

WHY.
Why do we have to care?
Thoughts like this make me jealous of androids from those sci-fy shows. They get all the benefits of being human without having to worry about the one thing that separates us from man made contraptions. A soul. The ability to think and to care. The ability to feel and to hurt.

Yes, I know.
  "I matter"
     "I have a purpose"
        "I do make a difference"

But do I really?

Why write this? No one reads this blog anyway. Do I do it for me? So I can pretend for one minute that I matter? Maybe someone will stumble onto this blog and find something that helps them in some way. Probably not. So instead I ramble. Hoping that maybe I will care.

Who am I kidding? I care, I will always care. I will cry, I will feel, and I will hide that from everyone. Being who they want or need me to be. I will be that friend who is there only when you need my help; who will love you even if you don't know or care; who would care if something bad happened to you; who will be the sugar to sweeten the lemonade of your life; and who will keep investing for no return.

Indifferent though I may be, and even if I don't matter, I am here. I may as well try to forget me and care about you. Because you do matter.

Who knows?
Maybe one day, I will matter. Maybe that's why I keep going, cause one day I could matter. Maybe.

Book Review: Tess of the d'Urbervilles

Last week I spoke on the virtues of reading classic books.  But let's be honest now, some of those older books really are not worth reading. One good example of this is Tess of the d'Urbervilles (Tess) by Thomas Hardy. I think the first mistake of this book was that it was written by a man. Why a man tries to write about a woman and how she responds to womanly experiences is beyond me.

Basically this book follows the life of Tess Durbeyfield, a sweet village girl of lowly parentage. The book opens with a quiet village scene where Tess and some other village girls are dancing. She happens to make eye contact with a random young boy passing through.
Switch to Tess's drunken father finding out that they are remotely related to an old family by the name of d'Urberville. Her father gets the idea to send young Tess out meet Mrs. d'Urberville and present herself as a long lost relative. Tess, feeling guilty over some events agrees to this. She makes the journey by wagon and walking and ends up meeting Alec d'Urberville (the son) who offers her the job of  watching the poultry on the rather run down estate. Basically to sum up her time here we find out that the d'Urbervilles are just frauds who borrowed the name to sound more refined and Alec rapes Tess.
Tess returns home pregnant, and her family takes her in. The baby is born but dies at a young age, his mother believing it because of her sin. After this Tess decides she needs to leave because she can't deal with being judged by everyone. So she takes off and ends up finding work at a dairy farm as a milkmaid. Who should she meet there by the boy she made eye contact with at the beginning of the book, Angel Clare. Angel is resisting his family's urging to become a preacher because he wants to be a farmer. While working at the farm Tess and Angel fall in a love and take forever to admit it to each other. But then Angel proposes to her and she agrees to marry him. Now she's in a bind as she feels guilty because she isn't a virgin but she can't find time to tell him. So, they get married and the night of she finally admits to him what happens. He responds poorly (even though he had had a sight affair with an older lady before he met Tess) and the next few days are extremely awkward. Tess suggests they separate and he agrees. Angel gives her some money than takes off for Brazil saying he will write to her if he can forgive her and wants her to join him. On his way out of town he runs into Izz, another milkmaid he worked with and asks her to be his mistress and come to Brazil with him. She agrees, but then tells him no one will love him like Tess and she can't. So he continues on his own.
Meanwhile Tess, who had told Angel she'd go back to her parents but decides she can't stay there and goes to work on another farm. The labor is hard and the boss is a creep who keeps trying to get in with Tess. She once attempts to go see Angel's parents and ask for help but decides not to after over hearing his brother discussing her. On the back to the farm she meets a wandering preacher who turns out to be  Alec d'Urberville who apparently got religion.
Alec starts to pursue Tess, following her to the farm and asking her to marry him. She tells him she is married and to leave her alone. He returns periodically to convince her to marry him. Then Tess gets notice her family is sick and returns home. Her father dies and she and the rest of the family are evicted. So they leave and take refuge at the church dedicated to the real d'Urberville family. Alec shows up again and convinces Tess that Angel will never return. So she agrees to marry him in return for helping her mom and siblings.
Meanwhile, Angel returns home because he got sick and his farms failed. Someone that he told his problems to tells him he was stupid and should never have left his wife. He finds two letters at home, an angry one from Tess, and an anonymous note saying to save Tess from a 'friend' (Alec). Angel finds Tess's mom who tells him where to find her. She is at an Inn with her new husband. Understandably upset as seeing Angel, who she had convinced herself would never come back, she asks him to leave her.
Angel leaves, and Tess goes upstairs and gets in a fight with Alec. She ends up killing him and then running after Angel. She tells him what happens and they run. They spend a few magical days together and then the law catches up with Tess. Tess tells Angel she hopes that he will marry Liza-lu her little sister after she is dead. Tess is executed and the book ends as Angel and Liza-lu leave the execution holding hands.

Where to start. Truly, after reading that I felt like I had wasted a couple days of my life. What is anyone supposed to learn? Rape doesn't pay? Truth isn't the best policy?
Try to fathom where Thomas Hardy was going with this. This book was published in the 1890's and was probably a scandalous read. So what was he warning of? The danger of letting your young daughter out on her own? Or was he trying to make some sort of analogy? Maybe the traditions and values of the day - embodied by Tess - were being ruined by the changes of the day and age?
Either way it is not a book I would read again nor would I recommend you read it.

Just use judgement.. if you haven't heard of it before maybe do some research before reading it.

Just my two cents.

Why be good?

1 Thessalonians 5:6-11

Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.
But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.
For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,
Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.
Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.

Often times Christian's are judged because the world views us as conceited people who look down on the unsaved because our standards make us better. But a Christian sets his own personal standards based on how he believes God wants him to live. These standards are different for every Christian based their maturity and understanding of God's Word.

But why? Why live a certain way, follow a set of standards, come across as different?
Because we have a reason to. Think about it - If we didn't have a hope, or something to believe in, would we choose of our own volition to be good- in many cases, no.
The above verses answer that question better than I can. Because we are redeemed, and God chose us not be condemned but rather to be forgiven. This is why we do what we do. Why you don't take Christian liberty and do what you want because you know you're already forgiven. You put on the armor of God and show his love to others, if that means being criticized because you different, yes. Does that mean you are looking down at those who don't have your standards, no.

We read God's Word and apply it to our lives as we personally understand, we love our neighbors and don't judge them for their choices (yes, admittedly there are Christian's who do judge others, but that is only a minority. Those who truly believe in showing others God's love would not give up on them or worse, not even try, because of their choices.) and yes, we may have some standards for how we live.

Also, we are not defined by our standards, that is not what makes us a Christian. God's loving mercy and forgiveness is what take our definition from being a sinner to be redeemed. Just as our standards don't define us, neither should we let others' standards define them.

Just some thoughts from my Bible reading.

Book Review: Divergent Series *Spoiler Alert*

Well, decided to go with a book review.

Modern day reads have seriously deteriorated from what used to be acceptable. All the great writers from Shakespeare and Austen are rolling in their graves with what people choose to read today. Despite my love for the classics, I must admit that I have read several of series popular today. Mostly out of curiosity and to be informed of what others are reading.
The most popular genre seems to be futuristic end of the world reads as seen in the Hunger Games series and the Divergent series. What is the point of such books? To inspire fear? Think about it, if the world ever got to a place where pitting young teens against each other as a form of control were acceptable, that would be a very messed up world. Books of this genre seem to be geared to take the horror out of such situations, but it's still horrible no matter how you package it.
All that said, I have read these books, and I won't bother with a review on the Hunger Games. But Divergent, as far as young adult reads go, was a least better than the Hunger Games series.
The premise of the Divergent series is that the world has created this utopia of sorts where, by dividing people by their primary talents, a perfect system can be created that can be used to save the world. Not that is clear until the 2nd and the 3rd book to the reader. Basically the world is falling apart so they brainwash a generation and place them a gated city far enough from civilization that they believe they are the only people left, or if they aren't they are too scared to leave the gate that they are content where they are.
The people in the walled up city (originally Chicago) are divided into 'factions' based on their primary character traits. The factions are:

Abnegation: The Selfless, plain-dressing, helpful, (government comes from this faction as well).

Erudite: The Intelligent, students, involved in technology and science.
Dauntless: The Brave/soldiers, protectors of the gate, ruthless.
Amity: The Peaceful, actually live outside the fence, farmers, nature lovers
Candor: The Honest

Children are born into their parents factions, and when they are 16 they take a test which tells them what faction they are best fit for. They can choose to stay in the one they grew up in, or if the test recommends a different faction they can join that one. At the choosing ceremony they cut their hands and drip their blood on the bowl representing the faction they choose.

Enter the glitch in this system - Beatrice Prior a girl from the Abnegation. She is divergent, meaning the computer test that is supposed to dictate her life isn't smart enough to place her in a faction, because like most normal people she has multiple good traits. She is brave, selfless and smart.
Beatrice chooses Dauntless, changes her name to Tris, and starts the vigorous training that new members must go through in order to stay in the Dauntless faction. Enter the predictability of the book- she overcomes the obstacles and survives the training, and cue the romance of the series with Four (aka: Tobias, a kid Tris grew up with who ran away because his father (an Abnegation role model) was secretly abusive).
Then we get to the climax. Turns out that the Erudite have been planning to overthrow the happy system by attacking the Abnegation by mind controlling the Dauntless. But Tris and Four (who is also divergent) cannot be controlled by the serum that affects the rest of the Dauntless. Unfortunately Four gets caught and forced to take another special serum that can override even his Divergent abilities. This leaves Tris, with the help of her father and brother to destroy the computer system the Erudite are using to control the Dauntless. (Tris's mom was shot saving Tris). So the three of them break into the computer room, being controlled by a drugged up Four and stop the overtaking. Sadly, lives are lost (including Tris's father) and the entire city is in an uproar at what has happened.
The book ends as they all (Tris, un-drugged Four, her brother, Four's abusive father and Peter the jerk from Dauntless) ride off in a train to Amity to re-coup.

As the first book sets up the basic story I will quickly sum up the last two books. In the second book they continue recovering from the attack, trying to set up some sort of peace with the Erudite leader who started the whole mess. We also find out that Tobia's mother is alive (her death was staged so she could escape her abusive husband, although she left her 8 year old son to be his sole outlet; setting up some lovely mother/son issues as they are forced to work together and Tobias has to decided if he will forgive her and if he can trust her.) Needless to say that doesn't go well- the peace attempt and mother/son reconciliation. Also, the romance angle is on an ever present roller coaster, yes, they love each other, but of course we need to have all this drama and stupidity to keep it from getting boring. Eventually they try to stage an attack on the Erudite compound which isn't very successful but they do find a video that tells them that they are really a giant experiment and that the rest of the world just placed them in their city to try and solve their own problems. Not considering them people but more like lab rats. Tris finds out her mom was one that willingly chose to be brainwashed and join the project. End book 2.

The third book begins as a team of them go outside the fence and find the organization that placed them in the city. This organization is just concerned with finding a solution to the world's problems and isn't particularly caring about what happened. Instead, it just wants to re-brainwash the entire city so they forget the overthrowing. The head of the organization tries to recruit Tris- mainly because he was in-love with Tris's mother before she went into the city. But Tris will have none of it, she knows that brainwashing the city again is not the way to go. So *spoiler alert* they take over the organization and Tris ends up dying *gasp! We just killed off a main character?!*. The book ends as everyone else figures out how to live happily ever after.

Good things about this series? Well, if technology keeps advancing this could one day be possible so I guess it's not too far 'out there'. While I did like Tris's character, I think it was a good move on the author's part to kill her. Life isn't perfect, the good people don't always make it. Tris chose to do the right thing even though she knew she was going to die. The world in general is too selfish so a book where the character actually has character was refreshing.

If I were to rate this I would give it a 5/10 rating. Again, what does it really teach anyone? Can this be applied to real life? Not particularly. Also, Veronica Roth is a good writer, but somewhat sloppy. She makes a novice mistake between book 1 and book 2 and that is really disappointing. Yeah, it was a small detail she messed up, but if she messed that up maybe there are more mistakes that I did not catch. If you're going to write a series you really need to pay attention to details. But at least she doesn't negate her series like Suzanne Collins did with the Hunger Games (rant for another time.)
I guess the moral (?) of the Divergent Series could be: Bad things happen to good people, put a helmet on and move on. Or: When the world is all about conforming, being yourself is bad but it could save the world. Be different.

Anyway.. if you got anything out of that please comment and let me know. Otherwise maybe it made you laugh.

Long Time, no Post

Hello Again,
As always, there has been quite some time since I last posted. But that - and this time I mean it- is going to be different.
Life has had some major changes recently. I 'quit' college, moved to Texas, and am now on the job prowl. Looking to save up money and then study cosmetology. (Yes. Cosmetology. Lets not forget the saying: Do what you love. Well, I love to do hair so why not get certified and be able to do it professionally?)
True, I have left all my friends and the 'life' that one can have in the college realm. But now I get to live day-by-day, trusting God and see where LIFE can go.

I plan to keep this updated with the happenings of my life.

- Annoying my cousin
- Sarcasm
- Stories (As I am sure I will do plenty of stupid and awkward things that probably shouldn't be shared but knowing me, will be.)
- What God is teaching me
- Photos
- Book reviews (With these reviews you will never have to read a book again!)

Comment on stuff you'd like to read about and I will see what I can do!

ahhhh!!!!

11 more days until I start school!!!!!!!!! Oh boi
I'm excited for the most part, but I don't really know.

Been spending the last few weeks at my brother's in Milwaukee. I finally got to meet my nephew, and he's really really cute. A little bit of a stinker (literally and figuratively) at times, but cute, and has a great laugh.
Haven't been doing too much, working on pictures, and I still have shopping to do. :)

Just trust God at the moment. So many changes, and more to come. My biggest worry is my future roommates, I hope they like me!

Not sure if I can access blogger from campus. I doubt it, so I'll try to post a couple more times before I get on campus. And if i can't post, then I will catch up on break! :)

ummmmm

Right now I'm in a thinking mood.. and I'm thinking about so much I can't really sort them into an organized anything. It's like my pastor says about the female brain- it's a bunch of wires of thoughts that get tangled up and wrapped up together and so we have so many thoughts we can't process them.

School update:
I'm working on two main subjects, Spanish & Geometry- the 'joy' of being homeschooled right? haha. And I'm required to write a semi term paper, but I don't have a subject. When it comes to research/term papers, my mind is like 'HELP!'. No kidding! The hardest thing is to come up with a subject, all the ones I think I might like to write about I can never find enough good information for to write a decent paper. (Comment ideas for me!!)

blah I thought I was also in a writing mood. Not right now though I guess. I will write later!

Time to become a semi-frequent blogger?

Hey hey all!
Yeah I know, it's -again- been ages! But I got a laptop, and one of my goals is to become a blogger. Haha, i know I have such big goals in life right?

Anyway, if anyone is still reading this, please comment me with suggestions about what i should write about, else it's just going to be a lot randomness. (ooh but that is my trademark quality...).

I will do a post in the next day or so about my life an whats been happening. Lots I'm sure since I last wrote.

Comment away!! Should I write about God, music, reading, my life, Guam, photography, or just whateves? 0.o

Summer update

well, my hopes for posting more during the summer completely frizzed- just like my hair :)

My summer? It's actually been for the most part very very boring. I'm totally doing nothing. And I've learned the meaning of sleeping in, which means going back to school isn't going to be fun at all. I like sleeping :D
This will be my senior year of Highschool!! And it'll probably be a very busy one :( Besides my Homeschool, I have music and (hopefully) drama at my church's school. And then my mom enrolled me in the University here. They offer free classes to seniors who test into college level classes. So I'm going to be taking math and english there.

I got my permit -finally- that only took me forever to do :( I'm not so great of a driver. The other day for example, i got distracted and next thing i knew I was up on a hill by a fence o.o yeup... sorta scratched my sisters mini-van a tiny bit :/ But lesson learned, no one was hurt and I need to not get distracted by the car behind me. And yeah, I was fine but my sister was freaked out and kicked me out of the drivers seat. (Although seeing as how I was the one less shaken by the incident not sure why she was the one driving.... but oh well. )

Rebecca suggested that I talk about my faith. I am a born again Chri
stian, and have been raised in a Christian home since I was a baby. I was saved when I was 5, but didn't really care much about it. It was more of a safety deposit you know? I'm saved, therefore no need to worry. The last couple years tho I've learned a lot and God has become so much more real.
A couple weeks ago, my church had a 5 day camp. And I wasn't going to go - for really stupid reasons - but decided that my reasons for not going where why I SHOULD go. So the second day I went. And it was really good.
Pastor Charles Hiers from Hawaii was our speaker, and he was really really funny. And a good speaker. In the morning he talked about traits we should have and use to praise God. They were:
Character
Courage
Countenance
Confidence
Community (working the community), and
Church (being involved in the church.)
Then the evenins were about things we can ask for, like: How to pray, wisdom, etc.
What i learned was that I need to be more courageous and that I tell ppl a lot about me and my God without even speaking. And that my view of how big God is affects how I live for him.
(Side note: If you've never listened to Louie Giglio you should!)

Life otherwise has just been the usual teen stuffs. Drama over silly stuffs and all that. My best friend "Kayla" moved back to Guam after having been gone for 2 years. I'm really happy about it, it's really good to have her back. :D

Well I guess thats all for this post. I will try to post more. Maybe with going to the University and all that I will have more interestin things to post ;D
I got a new purity ring yesterday!! (I lost my other one..) and I LOVE it. It's an Irish Claddagh ring. I've always been fascinated by the story behind them. So I"m really really happy to have it, it's beautiful. I'll try and post a better pic later, but here is the one i took with my sisters computer :D (Lol Shatter Nail Polish... )

Hey everyone!

Hey everyone!
I'm trying to start blogging more regularly. But I need ideas. So if you have anything you'd like me to talk about comment and let me know.
I can do book reviews, I've read a lot of books. Lots of classics, or I can recommend good books to read on almost any given subject. And I can discuss more songs, just give me the name.

Or I can talk about photography. Or life. Or music
If you'd like advice about anything, feel free to ask, and if i have any ideas I'd be glad to help.

Just comment and let me know.
Thanks all!

Friday! (oh... it's wednesday... oh well :)

So, I know I don't usually do this, but I thought I'd talk about the new 'hit' song 'Friday' by Rebecca Black. I'm gonna post the lyrics, and talk about them :) I don't hate the song, or Rebecca Black, i'm kinda neutral. I think the song is repetitive and it's stupid in some respects.

Orignal Lyrics
Seven a.m., waking up in the morning
Gotta be fresh, gotta go downstairs
Gotta have my bowl, gotta have cereal
Seein' everything, the time is goin'
Tickin' on and on, everybody's rushin'
Gotta get down to the bus stop
Gotta catch my bus, I see my friends (My friends)

Kickin' in the front seat
Sittin' in the back seat
Gotta make my mind up
Which seat can I take?
(Ok, comment time. This first part is mostly okay. She at least picks a subject that she knows about. And doesn't start off singing about love. Like a certain other teen singer *Cough*. But the obvious question is, if she's headed to catch her bus, why did she go with her friends? I'm pretty sure her parents are thinking she's on the bus...... maybe)

It's Friday, Friday
Gotta get down on Friday
Everybody's lookin' forward to the weekend, weekend
Friday, Friday
Gettin' down on Friday
Everybody's lookin' forward to the weekend

Partyin', partyin' (Yeah)
Partyin', partyin' (Yeah)
Fun, fun, fun, fun
Lookin' forward to the weekend
(Okay.... really repetitive!! What about:
It's Friday, time to get down,
because everyone is looking forward to the weekend.
Partyin', partyin' Yeah!
Fun fun fun fun!
Lookin' forward the weekend.

Or something like that :)

7:45, we're drivin' on the highway
Cruisin' so fast, I want time to fly
Fun, fun, think about fun
You know what it is
I got this, you got this
My friend is by my right, ay
I got this, you got this
Now you know it
(Okay.. time? am or pm? And why are they crusin'? Cause they don't look old enough to be driving, let alone the highway! Glad to know your friend is on the right, who's that on the left? Maybe say: My friends are by my side)
Kickin' in the front seat
Sittin' in the back seat
Gotta make my mind up
Which seat can I take?

It's Friday, Friday
Gotta get down on Friday
Everybody's lookin' forward to the weekend, weekend
Friday, Friday
Gettin' down on Friday
Everybody's lookin' forward to the weekend

Partyin', partyin' (Yeah)
Partyin', partyin' (Yeah)
Fun, fun, fun, fun
Lookin' forward to the weekend
(Becca, just take this out... repetitive and we know already and you say it later anyway.)
Yesterday was Thursday, Thursday
Today i-is Friday, Friday (Partyin')
We-we-we so excited
We so excited
We gonna have a ball today

Tomorrow is Saturday
And Sunday comes after ... wards
I don't want this weekend to end
(You wanna get mocked by teens today? State the obvious... drives them nuts and makes them 'haters'.. They feel like you don't think they know it. And it makes you seem stupid to them)

So chillin' in the front seat (In the front seat)
In the back seat (In the back seat)
I'm drivin', cruisin' (Yeah, yeah)
Fast lanes, switchin' lanes
Wit' a car up on my side (Woo!)
(C'mon) Passin' by is a school bus in front of me
Makes tick tock, tick tock, wanna scream
Check my time, it's Friday, it's a weekend
We gonna have fun, c'mon, c'mon, y'all
(No rap... unless a teen. Just kinda weird with the older guy...)
It's Friday, Friday
Gotta get down on Friday
Everybody's lookin' forward to the weekend, weekend
Friday, Friday
Gettin' down on Friday
Everybody's lookin' forward to the weekend

Partyin', partyin' (Yeah)
Partyin', partyin' (Yeah)
Fun, fun, fun, fun
Lookin' forward to the weekend

It's Friday, Friday
Gotta get down on Friday
Everybody's lookin' forward to the weekend, weekend
Friday, Friday
Gettin' down on Friday
Everybody's lookin' forward to the weekend

Partyin', partyin' (Yeah)
Partyin', partyin' (Yeah)
Fun, fun, fun, fun
Lookin' forward to the weekend
(Seriously? TWICE?? you know why people hate your song becca? You use FRIDAY way to much!! We know what day it is :D and we're glad it's friday :) don't make them sick of it!)

Okay, like I said. Just some observations. I know this is kinda a silly post. I don't hate her, or like her. I think if she wrote some songs that aren't as repetitive. I'm glad that she didn't start off with another dippy love song like everyone else does. But clean up your lyrics, make them flow better, make sense. And not give people headaches cause it's uper repetitive!

Love & Respect

My mom just gave me a book to read called "Love & Respect", and it's more geared to married couples. But also very good for anyone to read. At first wasn't too thrilled about having to read it, but decided to just start reading it, and i'm enjoying it.

It's based off of the verse in Ephesians 5 that tells wifes to be submitted to their husbands, and husbands to love their wifes. This is telling the wife to respect her husband, and him to love her. This is important. Why don't they tell the wife to love him? Or him to respect her? Very simply, because it doens't need to be said.

A lady is wired to love, and it's what we do and need. If you ask almost any married woman if she loves her husband, she will tell you 'yes'. But ask her if she respects him, and often times, esp if they've been having issues, she will tell you 'no.' We are wired to love, and respecting we sometimes feel is something that he has to earn. But he shouldn't, we should respect him because it's commanded and it's because it's what he needs. In the same way that we want our husband to love us. He wants respect. Because he knows that you love him, it's shown, and just known. But do we always show him that we respect him?
Men are wired to respect, they respect each other, and their spouse. Bu what they don't always show is that they love thier spouse. They don't always show they love them, because they aren't wired for it.

The auther has come up with a thing called "the crazy cycle." basically it's a crazy circle that couples get themselves into that will go on forever unless one of them breaks it. (see below)
As you can see, she may feel unloved, so she responds to him in a way he feels is disprespectful, and then he'll respond without love and she'll.... and ON and ON. And this is often why people get devoriced cause they can't break this cycle.
Then the section i'm reading currently is about who should break it, and ways to do it. Sometimes the simplest things can change your marrige.

Even tho I'm not married, engaged or anywhere all that close, it's good to learn this now, instead of later when I might need it because I'm in this cycle. And even now I see that it applys, even just to friends. Like after reading the first couple chapters, I realize that I sometimes treat my 'guy friend's in a why they might take as disrespectful and I shouldn't do that. Just because if I can't respect guys i just talk to, and hang out with sometimes how will i do with respecting a man I'll someday be with everyday?

Like the other night at a party, I was treating my one friend like he couldn't take care of himself. And I didn't really think about it, till after I'd left the party. or I would've apoligized to him because he's not someone that needs to be babied by his friend. He's an indepentant person, and I felt bad. I saw him a couple days later and he pulled me aside and told me: "Anna, we decided that we'd tell each other if we do something that bugs the other person right?" (I agreed, cause we did, I feel that friends should be open about things that bug them) "I don't like it when you treat me like a kid, I have been taking care of myself since I was little, and I can still do it." (paraphrase)
Needless to say I felt bad, because I had seen that I had done it, but I'm glad he felt he could tell me about it. He didn't label it as feeling disrespected, but I know that's how it made him feel.

Well I will end this lenghty post here. And I'll probably make more comments on this as I continue reading through the book. If you are married, I would recommend this book, even if you're marrige is perfect, it's still good to know. And if you're not married, I recommend this. Learn it now, so you'll spend less time in crazy cycles like this when you're married someday.

Life

I know, I fail at blogging. So what to write about?
Life would be the obvious one I guess. As it's what I deal with everyday. Well last week, and this week are turning into catch up weeks for school. Which is okay. I have some papers to rewrite, mostly. I got my ACT scores today. I got a 24 composite score which is okay I guess. But my mom may have me take it again. (joy :) Also got a packet from PCC talking about my major and their course offerings. Pretty sure PCC will be my school. Be cool to see my brother again I guess ;D lolz

Friends, theres a big subject for teens. The last couple years I haven't had very many close friends. But this last year, God has brought some amazing people into my life. But it has it's up and downs. I have my best friend, who's there for me all the time no matter what, and how crazy I am. (Thank you so much! You are the best out there!!) And I then some other friends, who i'm kinda in/out in their book I think... I was in, then my best friend moved here, and they kinda started ditching me and hanging out with him instead, which kinda hurt me. I did talk to them about it, and they invited me over for one thing. But idk if they really want to hang out with me, or they just did cause they felt bad :(
Why is life so complicated? And over stupid things. Why can't we all be friends and hang out?

Anyway, I should go work on those papers :)
Will try and catch up with my blogging. And be more regular! And since I'm gonna be 17 next month (On Easter!) I need to some sort of hobby! Haha!

Laters!

Pet peeves

You know what annoys me?

1. People with double standards. They judge others for that they do. Drives me bonkers, if you're gonna do it when no one is around, don't judge others for doing it. PLEASE!

2. People who don't respect others. Treat them the way you'd like to be treated

3. People who have so much pride they won't listen to anyone. Esp cause they know that you're right. Esp older siblings who won't listen to younger siblings, cause they know the younger one is right and more mature.

Random thoughts

Man, I'm so out of it all tonight. I feel drugged or something :( I can't really think, and can't feel anything emotionally, kinda just drained. I think I went to bed to late last night, maybe I'll go to bed early esp since I have class and a lesson. But I thought I'd attempt to write a post tonight anyway.

So it's approaching Christmas rapidly. I'm not really into Christmas right now :( Like the present side that is. I'm more focused on the fact that this is when we celebrate the birth of our Lord. And it's a good time to remember what He's done for us. :D

Tonight before I spaced out, I got really annoyed at my little brother. He just chooses to be annoying, and sometimes you just can't ignore it you know? And then he's manipulative, but if you tell him that, he acts like he's totally innocent and didn't do anything. I think that's what got me annoyed, it really bugs me when people deny something that you both know to be true. Why can't they just admit it?

The new Narnia movie is out. I really want to see it. I wanna see it in Theaters without my mom and sister, cause they are the kind of people who want movies based on books to be just like the movie. (Ok, how many are really? the only good book to movie adaption i've seen is 'Holes' and that's because the author wrote the screenplay) But I'm hoping to see it this week end, we'll see.

Had a concert last Friday night. I think it went well. Again I got frustrated with some ppl (non family). Other kids in the orchestra. While we were chilling in a classroom until time to go on stage, and they kept messing with stuff. Like eating the candy, and playing with other instruments, and showing no respect for the teachers or their stuff. And the teacher who was supposed to be overseeing and doing crowd control was to busy talking with some of the girls that he didn't even care what everyone else was doing. Why can't they respect the teachers? Honestly, they know better, they just choose to do what they want, and the sad thing is they get away with it. So i guess it's kinda the teacher's fault that they and their stuff isn't respected.

On saturday, i started out bored. But that didn't last long. I ended up taking apart a bunkbed, cleaning the room. Taking apart another bed, bringing it into the room and reassembling it. And cleaning the room again! Took me 6 hours! And meanwhile my siblings chilled and played the Wii.... oh well. I did enjoy the taking apart and putting together part :D

Oh, so the reason I was up too late last night. I was writing a song for my music theory class. I was up until midnight. Then crashed, and woke up at five, then basically slept until 8:30, but I think I should've just slept until like seven without waking up at all. And then I did some school and revised my song. Just really tired, I think it's hangover from all the caffine i've had today. I really should go to bed.

I think I will.
Good night all

Merry Christmas. Comment and tell me what you're doing for Christmas! :D
